On Thursday the 11th of April 2019, The DLR Integration Forum launched their "Vote 2019" information brochure.
The "Vote 2019" brochure aims to promote active involvement of new communities in the forthcoming local and European elections. The brochure includes information on; who can vote, how to vote, why you should vote, and how to register to vote.
The brochure is available via local libraries and community centres across the County. It will also be distributed at the upcoming dlr Integration Forum Voter Information Sessions, details of which and an electronic version of the brochure will be available via the forum website: www.dlrintegration.ie
DLR Integration Forum member and Voter project coordinator Reji Jacob states:“the active citizenship is essential in the process of integration and we hope that our brochure will encourage and help people to register and vote. New communities should get involved in the local community life and with assistance of their elected public representatives seek ways of solving local issues and improving community quality of life”.
The upcoming Local & European Elections will take place on Friday, 24th May 2019.
Speaking at the launch, DLR Social Inclusion Officer Joe Connor said: "We are absolutely delighted to support the dlr Integration Forum with this very informative brochure, which clearly outlines how to go about registering and the voting process itself. I would encourage everyone to check the register at www.checktheregister.ie to ensure that they are indeed registered to vote and ultimately have a say in how their County is shaped".
